My Angel, My LoveBella? Are you in here? I called out into the dim interior of the attic. Bella? I called again, my eyes unable to pierce the darkness. I took a few careful steps into the room, and jumped as the door slammed shut behind me. I whirled around and tried the handle, my heart pounding in my chest from the shock I had just received. It was locked. I guess I should have expected it, I thought, as I sighed.
A few months ago a new girl transferred to my school, her name was Bella. We became friends right away, and then I learned something extraordinary about her; she was an angel. No really, she was an Angel. Not just any Angel, either, she was my Guardian Angel. I found this out one night when I was attacked by a demon, and Bella appeared out of the blue to save me, sword blazing and her beautiful wings shining brightly in the dark alley. After that, she saved time and time again from this demented brother and sister, Fate and Doom. Those two were insane, simply crazy.

Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
that I nev
